about me

Christina ButcherI, the infamous and acclaimed poet Christina Butcher, am from the desert lands of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Okay okay, I’m not famous…or acclaimed…or even well-known outside of my (very supportive) family and friend circles, but I’m incredibly enthusiastic about life, love, great literature and quality writing. I work in the South Sound as a freelance writer, book reviewer, and podcast producer.

I live in Tacoma, Washington, where I haunt as many coffee and book shops as I possibly can in my free time. I also volunteer with Creative Colloquy, a wonderful literary organization that features creative writing from the South Sound. Lucky for me, the folks at Creative Colloquy let me produce the coolest little podcast, Literally Tacoma, which features local creatives and community activists.

I’m also a freelance writer with OLY ARTS, an organization “dedicated to coverage of the amazing theater, arts and culture our community has created” in the South Sound. OLY ARTS produces online and printed content. I can’t express how excited I am to learn and thrive with this organization.

Besides work, I make it a point to participate in local arts and culture events because I find value in building a strong sense of community.

When writing, I strive to create honest poetry and whimsical fiction. Please feel free to peruse my work and let me know what you think, good or bad. Happy reading!

I’m in Seattle but I always love my visits to Tacoma! They say that Portland is the Seattle alternative but that certainly holds true for Tacoma as well. Anyway, I love the whole Pacific Northwest. All that said, I look forward to my next visit to Tacoma. It is a very distinctive scene.
