The Main Differences Between GPS Trackers and AirTags

GPS trackers and AirTags are both popular devices used for tracking purposes, but they differ significantly in their functionality and features. GPS package tracking devices, such as GPS trackers, are designed to provide real-time location data for tracking the movement of objects, vehicles, or individuals. These devices use satellite technology to determine their location and transmit this information to a designated receiver or monitoring system.

On the other hand, AirTags are small Bluetooth tracking devices developed by Apple that work with the Find My app to help users locate lost or misplaced items.

Unlike GPS trackers, AirTags rely on Bluetooth technology and proximity to other Apple devices to determine their location. When an AirTag is within range of an Apple device, it can transmit its location to the owner’s iPhone, allowing it to track its whereabouts using the Find My app.

While GPS trackers offer more extensive coverage and can track objects over long distances, AirTags are more suited for tracking items within close proximity, such as keys, wallets, or bags. Additionally, GPS trackers typically require a subscription or service plan for real-time tracking, while AirTags operate using Apple’s existing Find My network at no additional cost. Ultimately, the choice between GPS trackers and AirTags depends on the specific tracking needs and preferences of the user.
